Finding Calm in Chaos

Uncertainty is the biggest trigger for our deepest fears.

With the entire world on edge, most of us are facing a whole new set of challenges during the global pandemic. It’s only natural to feel scared, worried and anxious with too many unknowns to count.

Adjusting to change-especially a change we didn’t plan for, didn’t ask for and certainly didn’t prepare for (at least consciously)-often causes a sense of overwhelm, panic and uncertainty. We’ve been forced out of our comfort zone and our daily routines. The world as we know it is changing and we must adapt.

When everything feels out of control or chaotic, how can we re-center and find inner peace? As an agent for powerful, positive change, I always look for opportunities for growth and learning on individual and collective level. And, while I do believe this pandemic has offered an opportunity for us to go within, practice self-awareness and discover our inner resources, it’s brutal and painful. As change often can be…

We see many good things happening around us with people supporting each other in numerous ways all over the world. After all, isn’t it human nature to overcome, thrive and elevate to the next level? History proves it. The best innovations, ideas and healing often come from/after pain and suffering.

Focus on what you can control.

When things around us seem out of control, we can shift our focus to what we can control. Here’s one thing within your power: Self care. Let’s consider the four aspects of self: mind, body, spirit & emotions.

Now, consider your current practice of caring for your mental, physical, spiritual and emotional well-being. Does anything need to change or do you have a solid ritual in place? If you’re not sure, take an inventory. You can watch a short video I made about practicing self care . Having a daily practice or ritual and focus on one thing you can do to enhance your overall well being is key during crisis or chaos. Getting your internal landscape strong and balanced is key to have the ability to respond to outside circumstances.

We all have seeds of resilience within us.

It’s in our DNA and on a cellular level from previous generations. Humans have overcome pandemics, famine, and wars long before us and we do know how to overcome and rebuild. For those who have spent time on personal growth and development, the time has come to evoke what you’ve learned and embodied. It’s critical to do your daily awareness practice, whether it’s spiritual, emotional, physical or mental. Pay attention to all aspect of yourself and be mindful what your input vs output of energy is-you want to find a balance that’ll keep your centered. As the saying goes, you can’t calm the storm…what you can do is calm yourself. The storm will pass.

To Powerful, Positive Change…Cheers!
