Finding “Holy Moments” during challenging times
Greetings,
I’ve been back in the US almost a month now and back to my routines and flow of life. How are you? While I don’t discuss politics in this space, I will say this: the upcoming election have a lot of people feeling tense and divided, as the stakes feel high and emotions are running strong on all sides. With intense media coverage and contrasting viewpoints (even amongst friends and family), it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about the future. Hang in there, friend! Keep breathing. Maybe look for holy moments?
The other day, a friend and I shared one of those deep talks that touch the soul. When she walked by and noticed a book on my table titled Holy Moments, she paused and said, "That’s what our visit felt like—a holy moment." Her words got me thinking about how life gives us these little gifts, often in the most unexpected ways.
The book Holy Moments, by Matthew Kelly explores the idea that life is full of opportunities to create moments of grace, kindness and purpose—which he calls “holy moments.” The book encourages readers to live with intention, seeking ways to make positive impact through simple acts and mindful choices.
These “holy moments” aren’t flashy or loud. They’re the quiet ones that sneak up on us—like a shared laugh, a familiar sunrise, or a simple kindness. And maybe they’re here to remind us of something important.
I’m sharing the central message of the book and hope you’ll look for holy moments in your daily life and bring light to others as well:
Live with intention: Holy moments remind us to approach each day with purpose, asking, “How can I bring kindness or joy into this moment?”
Embrace the small and simple: Often, it’s the little things—a smile, a quiet pause, or a shared laugh—that can be the most powerful.
Choose gratitude over worry: When we actively look for moments of grace, gratitude grows and helps shift our focus from what’s heavy to what’s uplifting.
Positivity attracts meaning: Staying open to the good creates room for these moments to find us, even on challenging days.
Recognize our shared humanity: Holy moments remind us that we’re all connected, part of something larger, which brings comfort and a sense of belonging.
So maybe today, we can look for our own holy moments. They’re often hiding in plain sight, ready to brighten our day if we let them.
To Powerful, Positive Change…Cheers! In
